The JPKF was introduced into the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict on July 14, 1992 and became the guarantor of peace for the next 16 years until Georgia's attack on South Ossetia in August 2008.

Georgia continues to ignore South Ossetia's peace-loving proposals to sign a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force between Tbilisi, Sukhum and Tskhinval.

However, it would be unfair to blame official Tbilisi for this: it is unlikely that it decides anything in its own fate. Especially in the field of foreign policy and especially after the color revolution of 2003, which swept away the remnants of an already purely symbolic sovereignty and brought Georgia under the tight all-round US control.

On June 14, a NATO summit will take place in Brussels, one of the topics of discussion of which will be Georgia. The Georgian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it was important that the issue of Georgia was included in the part of the summit agenda, which concerns the support of international order.

The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili will take part in the forum.

The date of May 29 in the recent history of South Ossetia was marked by a number of fateful events. In May 1992, the Act of Declaration of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia was adopted. And 26 years later, the independence of the State of Alania was recognized by another country - the Syrian Arab Republic.

In middle XVIII Ossetia (Alania) was an independent country - a confederation of self-governed states.
