South and North Ossetia should strive for unification within the Russian Federation, said President Anatoly Bibilov, speaking at the 10th congress of the Ossetian people in Tskhinval.

Every Ossetian, Bibilov emphasized, in any part of the world, should remember his history and understand the need to overcome the division of Ossetia.

The head of state also told why the congress was timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the recognition of South Ossetia's independence by the Russian Federation.

Gradara is a city of peace and love, a meeting place for different cultures and nations, said at a briefing in Tskhinval the mayor of the Italian city Filippo Gasperi.

"I am glad that I am in South Ossetia, and I hope that Gradara will also be the meeting place fot us," Gasperi said.

The mayor told about the sights of the city, about the fortress, where in ancient times there was a love story of Paolo and Francesca, which became the basis of the famous "Divine Comedy" by the great Dante.
