The mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Ossetia completed construction of two houses for refugees and internally displaced migrants living in the hostel of the agricultural college in Tskhinval. Two four-room houses have been transferred today to the Committee on Migration Policy of the Republic, which next week will provide them with new tenants.

As the head of the Mission Leana Hutchins has reported IA "Res", the current housing of these refugees was found to be under the threat of collapse, and the ICRC has decided to provide the neediest with safe housing.
"We decided to help the people and move them to a more secure, comfortable accommodation. There are two buildings, which contain eight rooms. There are toilets and a common tap in the courtyard - said Hutchins. - At the moment there is no a shower and sewerage system. But we hope that in the near future with the help of organizations involved in laying the underground pipelines, we will solve these problems."
According to the Head of the Committee on Migration Policy Vladimir Ushakov, soon it will be considered a question on moving the new tenants into these houses.
"It's very hard to live in conditions in which are living today our refugees. We will determine the most vulnerable families and will coordinate it with the Vice-Premier of South Ossetia Alla Dzhioeva. Today we are negotiating with the government on the allocation of funds for improvement of the neighborhood and the premises,"- said Ushakov.
According to him, at the moment the Committee on Migration Policy does not have the finances to purchase furniture for the houses.
Ushakov thanked the ICRC Mission for its assistance to the Republic.
