Young chess players from South Ossetia took the second place in the chess competition in the town of Teslic in the Republika Srpska, told the "Res" news agency the president of the RSO Chess Federation Georgy Shavlokhov.
He has specified that the competitions were held within the framework of the international chess festival "Slavic Brotherhood" in the Republika Srpska.
"The final stage of the festival will be held in Banja Luka," Shavlokhov said. "On the whole, our chess players are showing good results."
According to him, the state symbols of the Republic of South Ossetia make a strong impression on the local residents.
"T-shirts of South Ossetian chess players depict the flag and National Emblem of South Ossetia, local residents are interested in our symbols," the Federation President said.
Young chess players from the Russian Federation, Abkhazia, Belorussia, Serbia and South Ossetia are taking part in the festival.
The project is organized with the support of the Ministry of Family and Youth Policy and Sports of the Republika Srpska with the assistance of the representation of the RS in Russia.
The Second International Chess Festival "Slavic Brotherhood - 2018" is aimed at the development of sport and cultural cooperation between the Slavic peoples.
The technical organizer of the festival is the chess union of the Republika Srpska.
