The agenda of the Geneva discussions does not fully meet the spirit of the time and the challenges that this format faces, said the Presidential Envoy of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev.
"Therefore, we proposed to consider the agenda on the eve of each round," said Dzhioev. - In particular, we have repeatedly proposed to delete from item 3 of the agenda of discussions the phrase: "and international security measures."
The Envoy has specified that the name of the agenda of the discussions is the non-use of force and international security measures.
"The non-use of force is a very urgent issue and the main task of the Geneva discussions, and the second part -" international security measures, "we and our Western counterparts understand differently. In this regard, we believe that this formulation is no longer mandatory, and does not bear any equal burden," Dzhioev stressed.
According to him, for the South Ossetian side, the presence of Russian servicemen and Russian border guards in the Republic in accordance with bilateral Russian-South Ossetian agreements is an international measure or a security guarantee.
"For Georgia, such an international security guarantees are other forces, so we do not agree to unite them in one issue, we suggest removing this item from the agenda of the discussions," the South Ossetian diplomat explained.
In addition, according to Dzhioev, the delegation of South Ossetia has proposed, and not for the first time, to include in the agenda the search for missing persons as a separateissue.
"At the same time, we consider this not just a humanitarian, but an important problem, the solution of which would contribute to the emergence of some elements of trust among the people of South Ossetia towards Georgia," underlined the Envoy. "From our point of view, this is also an important factor in terms of security."
