Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, Dmitry Medoev, at the invitation of the political movement Stato Veneto, took part in the International Days of Peoples Self-Determination in Verona, where he made a presentation.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, Dmitry Medoev in his speech, which aroused the keen interest of those present, touched important aspects of the state-building of South Ossetia, political and legal grounds for the independence of the Republic, which are perfect from the point of view of international law.

"The Minister made a brief insight into the history of the struggle of the people of South Ossetia for independence, spoke about the events of August 2008 - the most difficult period in the modern history of Ossetia, which ended on August 26, 2008, when the Republic of South Ossetia received official recognition from the Russian side", - noted in the department.

In his report, Medoev also stressed the role of Russia, which, according to him, is the most important partner and ally of South Ossetia, which came to the aid of the Republic at the time of a mortal threat when the issue of life and death for the Ossetian people was resolved.

The South Ossetian diplomat confirmed the readiness of Tskhinval for full-scale work to ensure security in the region, which is the main purpose of the discussions.

However, according to him, the Georgian side is still blocking the signing of a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force between Georgia and South Ossetia.
