On March 18, South Ossetia is commemorating the 28th anniversary of the memory of the victims of the Ered tragedy, one of the worst and most inhuman events in the history of mankind, when Georgian gangs seized a truck with civilians and, after tortures and abuses, they were buried alive in one grave near the village of Ered, - said Speaker of the RSO Peter Gassiev in his address to the citizens of the Republic.

According to him, the Georgian fascists sought not only to physically destroy the Ossetian people, but to destroy the cultural monuments of the Republic, museums, the theater, to erase from history all references to the people of South Ossetia.

"On March 18, on the day of grief and prayers, we pay tribute to the memory not only of the victims of the Ered tragedy, on this day we remember all the children who were missing or were tortured in Georgian dungeons.

We will always remember the bloody atrocities committed by the Georgian neo-fascists, "the Speaker said.

Gassiev has added that the memory of the Ered tragedy should be a reminder for all progressive humanity in order to prevent such crimes in the future.
