South Ossetia and Abkhazia insist on their right to take part in the discussion of the problems of refugees within the walls of the UN. This is stated in the comments of the RSO delegation in the Geneva international discussions in connection with the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the resolution on the situation of internally displaced persons and refugees from South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

On June 7, 2023, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution prepared by Georgia on the situation of internally displaced persons and refugees from South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev met with Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko, the press service of the head of state reports.

The meeting was held within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum after the signing of the agreement between the governments of South Ossetia and the Leningrad Region.

The signed document provides for cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and socio-cultural spheres.

President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev laid flowers at the Monument to the victims of the Beslan tragedy in St. Petersburg, the press service of the head of state reports.

President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev met in St. Petersburg with a delegation of the Republic of Nicaragua headed by Presidential Adviser, Special Representative of President of Nicaragua for Interaction with the Russian Federation Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo.

Alan Gagloev welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for Nicaragua's principled position towards South Ossetia.

President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev met with Acting Governor of the Omsk Region Vitaly Khotsenko.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the SPIEF in St. Petersburg. This was announced by the press Secretary of the President Natalya Bosikova.

Alan Gagloev thanked Vitaly Khotsenko for the support that the Omsk region had provided to South Ossetia in 2008.

The parties discussed the further development of relations, after which they signed an agreement on trade, scientific and technical cooperation.

A delegation of South Ossetia headed by President Alan Gagloev is taking part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The Forum has started on Wednesday, and the official opening - a plenary session, in which President of South Ossetia will also take part - will take place on June 15.

The Forum will run until June 17.

As part of the large-scale event, a number of agreements will be signed with the regions of the Russian Federation in the trade, economic, scientific, technical, socio-cultural spheres.

The opening of a new teacher training institute, the creation of special conditions for children with disabilities, multidisciplinary cooperation in the field of education - the implementation of such agreements became possible thanks to the participation of South Ossetia in the International Forum of Ministers of Education "Shaping the Future".

The event was held in Kazan and brought together more than 90 foreign guests, including 20 heads of relevant ministries from Cuba, Venezuela, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Congo, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Qatar and Afghanistan.

The head of the South Ossetian state will also take part in the plenary session of the SPIEF, hold meetings with politicians and businessmen on the sidelines of the Forum.

A fighter from South Ossetia, Atsamaz Slanov, perished in the special military operation, according to representatives of the Slanov family.

Slanov was a native of Dzau district of the Republic. He was taking part in the special military operation since its beginning.

In fierce battles in the Volnovakha region on June 8, he died a heroic death.

Atsamaz is survived by his wife and two daughters. He was 32 years old.

Slanov's relatives went to the place of his death.
