"I hope that the main challenges facing the Geneva discussions will be successfully fulfilled," - said the envoy.
He has also noted that the situation in which is currently undergoing the work in the format of the Geneva discussions, is complicated.
"We are all concerned about the situation in Ukraine, because we are not indifferent to the fate of the Ukrainian people and their will. We express the hope that the situation will improve in the country, and the current government of Ukraine will consider the opinion of the people, between the authorities and the people will be reached mutual understanding. People of South Ossetia also went through hard times, repeatedly experienced aggression from Georgia. So we know the value of peace and security. Fruitful work within the Geneva talks will promote to strengthening security in other regions, "- said Dzhioev.
He has reminded that at the previous round the sides fruitfully worked on the challenges faced by the Geneva discussions and exchanged views on the situation in general, working on a joint statement of commitment to the principle of non-use of force.
"I think the draft statement, we have been recently submitted, is a good basis for future rounds to finally adopt this statement," - said Dzhioev.
The Envoy said that, despite some excesses, the situation in the region, particularly at the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia was stable.
He has also noted active work in format of Mechanisms to prevent and respond to incidents
(MPRI), which contributes to solution of specific issues and overall stabilization of the situation along the border.
In turn, the UN co-chairman Anti Turunen has also expressed the hope that the next round of the Geneva talks will be more successful.
"We hope that our efforts as well as the work of MPRI will contribute to stabilization of the situation and progress in the political sphere. I'm sure that the difficult situation in other regions of the world will not affect the work of the Geneva discussions and we will continue to cooperate fruitfully,"- said Turunen.
Today, with the participation of the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions will be held a meeting of the South Ossetian human rights activists and relatives of prisoners – the citizens of South Ossetia, sentenced in Georgia.
