South Ossetia noted the key importance of the agreement on the non-use of force with Georgia

The development and conclusion of legally binding peace treaties between South Ossetia and Georgia, Abkhazia and Georgia is key to achieving the main objective of the Geneva discussions, noted the Presidential Envoy of the RSO on the issues of post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev and the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, a member of the Russian delegation at the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia М.В. According to the press service of the office of the Presidential Envoy, Dzhioev and Litvinov discussed in detail the current state of affairs at the Geneva discussions, including preparations for the next round, scheduled for June 19-20, 2018.
The sides stressed that to achieve the goals of the Geneva process, stipulated by the Medvedev-Sarkozy agreements of August 12 and September 8, 2008 - ensuring the lasting security of South Ossetia and Abkhazia - the development and conclusion of legally binding peace treaties between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia, the Republic of Abkhazia and Georgia is of key importance.
In this regard, during the meeting it was expressed readiness of the South Ossetian and Russian delegations to continue the work on the draft declaration of the participants in the Geneva discussions on adherence to the principle of the non-use of force. According to Moscow and Tskhinval, the joint statement will be an important auxiliary step on the way to bilateral agreements.
Dzhioev and Litvinov also stressed the important role of the joint Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRI), calling it an effective tool for maintaining stability, exchanging information in border areas and preventing new outbreaks of tension.
In addition, the sides noted the importance of the process of delimitation and demarcation of the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia, primarily from the point of view of ensuring the interests and safety of the local population.
