The Investment Program for promoting socio-economic development of South Ossetia for 2021-2023 should take into account the interests of the Republic as much as possible, said First Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Mikhail Babich at the meeting on socio-economic cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia.

“We have already planned the budget for 2021-2023, all consultations and approvals have taken place. The Investment Program, which will be adopted for three years, should take into account the interests of the Republic in the development of the economy, social infrastructure, and the creation of social conditions for a normal, decent life for people,”Babich said.

According to him, the facilities that the members of the Russian delegation have visited today indicate the development of the Republic - including a hotel, a theater, etc.

“Today, one might say, was the simplest part of our work program, more complex work is to be done tomorrow,” Bibich said. - We need to see what should be done this year. We have a very busy schedule of work, it is associated with the consequences of the epidemiological situation, the construction season has dragged on, we have lost almost six months. Nevertheless, we must try to complete the volumes planned for the current year by the end of the year. We will, of course, talk about how to do this, optimize the time frame.

President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov, in turn, has noted that the processes taking place in the Republic are aimed at improving the infrastructure of the Republic and opening new facilities.

“We visited the State Drama Theater, which is really a pride for all of us. Tomorrow we will also visit the facilities that are being built,” the President stressed.

He has noted that the issues discussed with the Russian side are of great importance for the population of the Republic.

“This is the Investment Program, which is being implemented on the territory of the Republic; this is the implementation of the investment projects, assistance in the fight against COVID-19 and other issues that are really very important. And taking into account the attitude of the Russian Federation, we are confident that all these projects will be completed and will continue in the coming years," the head of state concluded.

The meeting continued without media representatives.

As part of the Russian Investment Program for 2020-2022, ten apartment buildings, bridges, roads and educational facilities will be built in South Ossetia. For the implementation of a three-year Investment Program to promote socio-economic development of South Ossetia for 2020-2022, Russia has allocated 4.5 billion rubles, 1.5 billion rubles each year. The same amount - more than 4.5 billion rubles - was built into the Russian budget for the implementation of the Investment Program for 2018-2019.

Another 9.1 billion rubles were allocated for the previous three-year Investment Program for 2015-2017. Control over the implementation of the Program is assigned to the Office of the President of the Russian Federation for Cross-Border Cooperation and Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
