President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev congratulated the employees of the Border Guard Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Republic on the 14th anniversary of its formation.
According to the press service of the President, the solemn meeting, held at the location of the Border Guard Department of the FSB of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia, was also attended by the KGB Chairman Oleg Shiran, official representative of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia Yevgeny Ragozin and the employee of the Russian Embassy in South Ossetia Alexander Zhurov.
Head of the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia Vladimir Shchemelinin addressed the employees with a congratulatory speech. He has noted that the employees of the Border Department in their activities carry out not only the functions of protecting the borders of South Ossetia, but are also the guarantor of peace and tranquility on the South Ossetian land.
“Citizens of the Republic can be calm about guarding the border, because high professionalism, as well as true courage, has always been inherent in warriors in green caps. In many respects, the achieved result became possible thanks to the constructive positions of the leadership of the Republic, close interaction of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation with the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia, the border service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations. I express my gratitude to President of the Republic and the leadership of the interaction structures for joint activities in protecting the state border,”he said.
Addressing the border guards, Alan Gagloev has noted that thanks to vigilance, professionalism and a high level of training, the servicemen of the Border Directorate of the FSB of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia managed to reduce the number of offenses and illegal actions at the border, which contributes to strengthening stability in the border regions of the Republic.
“Your service was formed in a difficult period in the history of our people. The employees of the Border Guard Service have always been distinguished by high professionalism, dedication and readiness to carry out the tasks assigned to them at the risk of their lives. The close cooperation of the South Ossetian and Russian border guards gives us confidence that the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia is under reliable protection,” he stressed and expressed gratitude to the border guards for their professionalism and high competence.
“Thanks largely to your tireless service, a reliable barrier stands in the way of provocations from our enemies. I wish you health and a peaceful sky over your head,” the President said.

The employees of the Border Department of the FSB of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia were also congratulated by the Chairman of the KGB Oleg Shiran, who noted the high level of interaction between the Border Service of the KGB of the RSO and the Border Department of the FSB of Russia in South Ossetia. The welcome address on behalf of Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov was read out by the employee of the Embassy Alexander Zhurov.
