As part of the cooperation agreement between the Embassy of the Republic of South Ossetia and the M.I. Rudomino All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature, a number of events were held for readers of the world-famous cultural center.

According to the press service of the diplomatic mission, one of the main goals of holding the Ossetian Culture Days in Inostranka is to get acquainted with the ancient culture, art and customs of the Ossetian people, which go back centuries and have their own unique traditions.

Ambassador Znaur Gassiev and the Library Director Pavel Kuzmin noted the importance of this event and the significance of further interaction within the framework of the current Cooperation Agreement.

In particular, on November 23, a concert program was presented with the participation of masters of art from Ossetia - the Moscow Dance Group "Alania" under the direction of Honored Artist of the Chechen Republic Timur Murashev. Also performed the regent of the Ossetian Orthodox Church on Solyanka, laureate of international competitions Zarema Butaeva and laureate of international competitions Aslan Kochiev.

On November 24, in continuation of the Days of Culture, the exhibition “Faces of Saints and Heroes of Ossetia” was presented by the author’s paintings of the Member of the Union of Artists of Russia, Honored Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Igor Lotiev. Some of the works presented are included in the collection of paintings of the famous public figure and philanthropist - Alexander Totoonov.

The exhibition was presented from two series of paintings by the master, which have separate storylines.

The first series is “Faces of Eternity,” consisting of twelve canvases depicting the celestial heroes of the Ossetian Nart epic, which form the basis of the ancient beliefs and cults of the people of Ossetia.

The second series of paintings is “Convoy,” of the ten works by the artist depicting real characters from among the Ossetian warriors who were part of the Imperial Convoy, many of whom became full holders of the Order of St. George. It is worth noting that the Ossetians were the only mountain people in the Caucasus, whose representatives were part of the Caucasian linear Cossack army.

Igor Lotiev conducted the introductory lecture, which was devoted to the history of the collection, as well as to the creative path of the author.

Within the framework of the event, a tasting of dishes of Ossetian national cuisine was also offered, during which the guests got acquainted with the customs and rituals associated with the ancient cults of Ossetians, described in detail in one of the main books of Ossetians – the Nart Epic, which collected ancient legends and tales rooted in the centuries-old history of the Ossetian people.
