South Ossetia is ready to supply environmentally safe fertilizers to Crimea that eliminate soil oxidation and increase the yield of almost all agricultural plants. First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of South Ossetia Joni Kachmazov, who is in Crimea on a working visit as part of the delegation of the government of the Republic, told RIA Novosti Crimea about this.

“We can offer Crimea our existing agricultural ores, which have been researched and introduced into the agro-industrial complex of South Ossetia, such as serpentinite flour. With intensive irrigation, agricultural lands are oxidized. The addition of serpentinite flour, which is found in unlimited quantities in our Republic, neutralizes soil oxidation due to the magnesium content, it stimulates the process of photosynthesis, which ultimately accelerates ripening and increases the yield of agricultural crops,” Kachmazov said.

In addition, the Republic is ready to supply zeolite tuffs to Crimea - natural, environmentally friendly fertilizers containing more than 40 macro- and microelements. They improve soil structure and increase productivity. The reserves of zeolite tuffs in South Ossetia are estimated at 5 million cubic meters.

In the Soviet times, they were widely used when developing deposits in Armenia and Georgia. According to Kachmazov, the zeolite tuffs of South Ossetia are in no way inferior in their chemical composition and effect, and are even several times superior to them.

He also said that during communication with the colleagues from Ministry of Agriculture of Crimea, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation and identified priorities for mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of crop production, nursery farming, livestock breeding, selection, introduction of new grape varieties and other issues of development of the agro-industrial complex of both republics.

During the visit to Crimea, the South Ossetian delegation plans to visit the Research Institute of Agriculture of Crimea and the Nikitsky Botanical Garden to get acquainted with the advanced research of the Crimean specialists in the field of agriculture for the subsequent implementation of these developments in their homeland.

A delegation of the South Ossetian government is on a working visit to Crimea. On Friday, the parties signed a regulation on the working group on the implementation of the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Crimea and the government of South Ossetia on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, as well as the protocol of the meeting of the joint working group on the implementation of the Agreement.

The parties discussed the entire range of issues of cooperation and agreed to identify specific lists of goods that the republics can provide to each other, what opportunities there are for increasing mutual trade turnover, as well as developing cooperation in the field of education and science.
