At a meeting with Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin, members of the Cooperation Commission of the Federation Council and the Parliament of South Ossetia, current issues relating to the relationship between the two countries were discussed, Speaker of the Parliamentary body Alan Alborov said at the briefing in Tskhinval.

“The senators were interested in what issues would be raised additionally at the next meeting of the joint commission. They were also very interested in what the current situation is in South Ossetia, what the most important issues are on the agenda and how they can help us,” Alborov said.

At the meeting, it was proposed to focus on the implementation of the current legal framework, which provides for the harmonization of the South Ossetian legislation with the Russian legislation.

Alborov has emphasized that the work in this direction in the South Ossetian Parliament is carried out daily.

“Over all the years of our convocation, we passed the most laws last year. We closely interact with our Russian colleagues, I think we will continue to harmonize and synchronize our legislation with the Russian Federation. We cannot say that we will do this work today, tomorrow or in a year, but we are carrying out this work on a constant basis,” the Chairman of Parliament said.

It was also noted that the modernization of the social sphere had also been discussed at the meeting.

As clarified by Alborov, the question concerned social obligations towards the South Ossetian participants of the special military operation.

“In Russia, many laws are adopted in order to protect the social obligations of the special military operation participants. And our task is to ensure that our fighters participating in the special military operation are also affected by these social guarantees, including those who do not have Russian citizenship,” the Speaker has emphasized.
