Representatives of the Stroyprogress group of companies came to South Ossetia to sign an agreement on geological exploration of oil fields and consider the possibility of creating the Republic’s own energy complex, president of the group of companies, Albert Dzhussoev, said during the meeting with the head of state, Alan Gagloev.

“There are some developments from the 50s; the Nizhnevartovsk Institute is already working on them. From 1954 to 1957, oil was extracted in the village of Grom (Tskhinval district), then the business was closed. God grant that this is all confirmed. This means that South Ossetia can achieve self-sufficiency in gasoline, diesel fuel and fuel oil,” Dzhussoev said.

He has emphasized that South Ossetia has good prospects for providing the Republic with electricity and its implementation.

“When we work in our oil fields, we use gas to generate electricity. You have up to two hundred million cubic meters lying around unused every year. This is 50-70 megawatts. And production is easy. You need to build this energy complex at 35-50 megawatts and you will have a backup source of electricity. If plants and factories are built, they need power. Energy is everything,” he said.

A delegation of Russian investors led by Dzhussoev arrived in South Ossetia on Thursday on a two-day working visit.

The Russian delegation that arrived in the Republic has also included General Director of Rusneftegaz Felix Chochiev, General Director of the ISML and Zubovsky Boulevard companies Albert Pukhaev, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Felix Tsarikati and others.
