Orthodox in South Ossetia are celebrating Palm Sunday in a pandemic

On Sunday, Orthodox believers are celebrating the Entrance of the Lord into Jerusalem, known as Palm Sunday. This year, due to the threat of coronavirus infection, the holiday services will be held with a minimal number of parishioners. The church recommended the parishioners to refrain from visiting churches on pre-Easter and Easter days until the restrictions imposed by the authorities are lifted. Festive services in all the churches of Ossetia will be held on Sunday.

Divine services in honor of the Nativity of the Virgin will be held in temples of South Ossetia

On Saturday, September 21, the Orthodox of South Ossetia are celebrating one of the main church holidays - the Nativity of the Virgin. On this day, festive services will be held in all the churches of the Republic.

Believers on this day put aside all their affairs in order to visit the temple and devote themselves to prayers in the name of peace and tranquility. Also, in Ossetian families, according to tradition, they prepare three pies and offer their prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Blessed Virgin Mary helped and defended South Ossetia in difficult days.

Orthodox Christians in South Ossetia are celebrating Easter. On the night of Sunday at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tskhinval was a solemn public liturgy in honor of the holiday, held by the Archpriest of the Tskhinval churches, priest Jacob Khetagurov.

Orthodox Christians in South Ossetia, along with the world Orthodox are celebrating the Christmas Day. The night before the Primate of the Alanian - Tskhinval Eparchy, His Grace Bishop Ambrose Mefonsky – Alanic, chanted the Christmas liturgy at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tskhinval. A festive liturgy was attended by South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov. The Orthodox holiday was also marked by the cross procession on the streets adjacent to the temple.
