Dmitry Medoev is nominated for president of South Ossetia

A meeting of the action group nominating Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian federation Dmitry Medoev as president of South Ossetia, has been held today in Tskhinval. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Central Election Committee. Repesentatives of scientific and political circles of the Republic addressed the meeting in support of the candidacy of Medoev. According to the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Mira Tskhovrebova, Medoev is a person who will lead South Ossetia to the revival. "I know Dmitry Nikolayevich as a person, as a diplomat, as a patriot, devoted to his Republic. I associate the hope for revival of my country with him and I believe that he will be a worthy leader of South Ossetia", - Tskhovrebova said.

Members of the action group have voted unanimously for nomination of Medoev for presidency of South Ossetia. He thanked the participants for their trust and support. "The decision to run for president of South Ossetia is the most important decision in my life. My people are my support, but together we can bring our country to prosperity. I want our life to become worthy of ourselves, and I`ll try to justify your confidence. For me, there is no any headquarters and parties; I have only one headquarters and one party - the Republic of South Ossetia. And the main objective of my life will be unification of all healthy forces who want to work for the benefit of Ossetia ", - Medoev has noted. It should be noted, that for today the Central Election Committee has registered 12 action groups nominating candidates for the presidency of the Republic: Deputy Defense Minister Igor Alborov, former Chairman of the State Committee of Information, Communication and Mass Media of South Ossetia Georgy Kabisov, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Yuri Dzitstsoity, a Chairman of the RSO Chamber of Commerce Roin Kozaev, ex-Chairman of the Committee of Transportation Maurice Sanakoev, RSO parliamentary deputy of the IVth convocation Sergei Zasseev, ex-presidential candidate, RSO parliamentary deputy of the IId and IVth convocations Vladimir Kelekhsaev, a consultant of the RSO presidential envoy Leonid Tibilov, a businessman Oleg Kozaev, chief bailiff of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of South Ossetia Sergei Bitiev, the former head of Dzausky district Ruslan Bagaev, judo coach Inal Dzukaev.
Re-election of the president of South Ossetia will be held March 25, 2012.
