Employees of the Center for Rescue Operations of Special Risk “Leader” of the Emergencies Ministry of Russia arrived in South Ossetia, where they intend to carry out the works on demining the territory of the Republic.
As reported to IA "Res" by the press service of the Emergencies Ministry, "a group of sappers of the EMERCOM of Russia will conduct the fourth stage of demining the territories of South Ossetia from explosive objects. This year the sappers will work in the direction of the Zar road. Engineering reconnaissance will be carried out first. Demining will be performed using robotic means".
A detachment of Russian sappers arrived in the Republic for 80 days.
On the territory of South Ossetia there remain areas that have not been cleared of unexploded shells, not only since 2008, but also since the time of the hostilities in 1989-1992.
The demining activities are carried out on the basis of the agreements between the presidents of South Ossetia and Russia, with the support of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and in accordance with the plans of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the two countries to work together. The sappers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of South Ossetia will be engaged in work on the destruction of detected dangerous objects, South Ossetian doctors are also involved in the activities.
