The signing of the agreement between South Ossetia and the Russian Federation on resolving issues of dual citizenship has been postponed until the summer, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-parliamentary Relations Zaza Driaev said at the press conference in Tskhinval.

The issue of dual citizenship was discussed at the regular meeting of the Commission on Cooperation of Parliament of South Ossetia and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, held in Moscow on April 18.

“At the meeting, we again raised the issue of receiving Russian citizenship in a simplified manner. The Russian colleagues noted that due to the tragic events in Crocus, the issue had to be postponed, although the agreement was already in the Presidential Executive Office at the signing stage,” Driaev said.

According to the parliamentarian, the Russian colleagues assured that they would return to discuss the issue this summer.
