South Ossetia and Russia are ready for the IGC meeting to be held in Tskhinval in mid-April

President Anatoly Bibilov received the Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Affairs of the North Caucasus, Igor Koshin, who arrived in Tskhinval on a working visit. According to the presidential press service and the government, the meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Government Eric Pukhaev, Head of the Presidential Executive Office Igor Kozaev, Deputy Head of the President of the Russian Federation on Border Cooperation Denis Travin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation Marat Kulakhmetov.

The head of the Republic noted that a lot of work had been done in preparation for the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on socio-economic cooperation between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.

“The basis for the implementation of the Investment Program for 2019 is serious and the level of implementation will also be maximum. All facilities have been examined, most of them are already working. As for the Investment Program for 2020–2022, it has already been practically completed, it remains only to identify the specifics and bring them to the IGC meeting,” Anatoly Bibilov assured.

Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Affairs of the North Caucasus, for his part, has stressed that in many issues of the Investment program it was possible to “reach the finish line”.

“It is very pleasant that our current questions are closed. The decisions of the co-chairs on the facilities that came out of the examination were prepared, the decisions of the co-chairs were signed, respectively, today we have no obstacles for current activities,” he said.

As Igor Koshin has emphasized, the main areas with the facilities listed under the Investment Program for 2020-2022. Are ready too.

The meeting of the Russian part of the IGC will be held in Moscow, and the meeting of the IGC itself will be held on April 19 in Tskhinval.

The implementation of the Investment Program to promote socio-economic development of the Republic of South Ossetia was later discussed at an expanded meeting with the participation of heads of the ministries and departments of the Republic.

Anatoly Bibilov noted that its participants had to solve technical and organizational issues in order to fully work on the Investment Program for 2019 and complete the preparations for the IGC meeting.

In turn, Igor Koshin has added that the implementation of the Investment Program this year began much earlier than in previous years.

“With those high rates that were last year, there is confidence in the timely completion of the construction of all facilities,” he stressed.

The Intergovernmental Commission consists of the heads of key ministries and departments of the Russian Federation and South Ossetia. The Russian part of the commission is headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko, the South Ossetian - by the Chairman of the Government of the Republic Eric Puhaev. The IGC decision approves the investment program to promote socio-economic development of South Ossetia. The previous meeting was held on November 15, 2018 in Moscow.
In general, more than 4.5 billion rubles have been allocated in the Russian budget for the implementation of the investment program to promote socio-economic development of the Republic for 2018-2019. For the previous three-year investment program, for 2015-2017, the Russian Federation allocated about 9.1 billion rubles. The implementation of the program is monitored by the office of the President of Russia on cross-border cooperation and the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasus.
