The Embassy of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation, at the invitation of the leadership of the Russian Historical Society, took part in the international scientific and practical conference “Euromaidan: the lost decade of Ukraine.”

According to the press service of the diplomatic mission, during the event, broadcast live, were discussed the economic and political prerequisites for the events in Ukraine in 2013-2014, the preparation of Euromaidan, the main aspects of organizing the protest movement, the actions of the Ukrainian authorities in relation to protesters, and also the role of the “collective West” in preparing anti-government protests.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in his address to the conference participants, has noted that the West is trying to involve as many countries as possible in supporting the obviously fruitless peace initiative put forward by President of Ukraine.

“Now they are trying to fool around, by and large, I can’t think of another word, all the countries of the world majority... and drag them into supporting the completely dead-end so-called “Zelensky peace formula,” the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said .
Lavrov has clarified that the essence of this proposal is that Russia should capitulate and go beyond the 1991 borders, pay reparations and organize the international tribunal. However, in order to lure as many countries as possible into supporting this initiative, “neutral” provisions on food, energy and nuclear security, prisoner exchange and humanitarian issues were also added.

“The fact that this is a dummy and, at a minimum, a stupid initiative is clear to everyone,” Lavrov has emphasized.
He called those who invite representatives of the countries of the world majority to sign on one point, for example, on food security, the “thimbles” and “crooks”, having stated that the purpose of holding negotiations between Ukraine’s “partners” is sometimes only a common photo.
“This is not serious from the point of view of diplomacy of any country, and for the West to say that this is the only way forward is, I think, a shame,” Lavrov has concluded.

The conference was also attended by heads and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Moscow.
