10 years have passed since the events of February 2014 in Kyiv, which received the romantic name “Revolution of Dignity” in the latest Ukrainian mythology and brought down the state independence and sovereignty of Ukraine. This is stated in the commentary of the Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the 10th anniversary of the coup d'etat in Ukraine.
“The possibility of resolving the acute internal political crisis that had arisen, largely provoked by the countries of the so-called “anti-Russian coalition,” still remained at that time. Attempts to resolve problematic issues between the authorities, on the one hand, and the opposition, on the other one , did not lead to success, despite the fact that a document was agreed upon and signed in Kyiv to normalize the situation. It is obvious that its implementation was not part of the plans of the "collective West" led by the United States, which, in fact, led the Kiev Maidan," the message says.
.The events of 10 years ago led to dire consequences not only in Ukraine, they created a real threat to international stability in the region, the Foreign Ministry added.
“With the coming to power of national-radical forces, the countdown began for the self-destruction of Ukraine as a sovereign state and its use as a factor of destabilization and an instrument of pressure on Russia,” the Ministry's commentary has emphasized.
The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry has dded that since the decision of the Bucharest NATO summit in 2008, Russia has repeatedly tried to convey to its “Western partners” the thesis about the inadmissibility of changing the neutral status of Ukraine and the need to take into account Russia’s interests.
“However, the voice of reason was not heard. Kiev had been blocking the implementation of the Minsk agreements on Donbass for 8 years. Years later, former heads of the European countries openly spoke about this, emphasizing that the idea was to give the Kyiv authorities time to pump Ukraine up with weapons, to prepare for a war against Russia. The consequences of this - a catastrophic situation in almost all state-forming areas in Ukraine, many thousands of victims, including among the civilian population of Donbass, who continue to suffer from barbaric shelling today, and the forced conduct of the Special Military Operation by the Russian Federation,” the Foreign Ministry has commented.
South Ossetia supports the decision to conduct the Russian special operation to protect the residents of Donbass, the Foreign Ministry has emphasized.
“Republic of South Ossetia, which has close allied relations with the Russian Federation and the interests of which include opposing the imposition of a unipolar world order and the dictate of the “collective West,” strongly supports the decision of the Russian leadership to conduct the Special Military Operation to protect the residents of Donbass,” the statement of the department reads.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RSO has concluded that Ukraine has become an example of what the rejection of its own sovereignty can lead to in favor of the aggressive anti-Russian policies of other individual countries - "Kiev does not want to understand in any way that it is impossible to talk without Russia and, moreover, try to solve anything on the Ukrainian issues."
The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry also noted that countries for which the policy of maintaining neutrality in international conflicts was the "fundamental basis of their sovereignty" were involved in "rampant anti-Russian hysteria, including the unprecedented scale of sanctions against the Russian Federation in history", and expressed confidence that the truth would prevail and the goals of the Russian operation would be achieved.
