The State Security Committee of South Ossetia called on citizens engaged in livestock farming to prevent their pets from crossing the territory of the Republic.

According to the press service of the department, despite the measures taken, the border authorities record the facts of overgrazing livestock of residents of the Republic to the Georgian territory, which creates risks of biological infection of animals and the transfer of pathogens in the opposite direction.

“There are cases when livestock owners take measures to independently return animals, resorting to the help of citizens living in the adjacent territory of a foreign state, bypassing an appeal to the KGB Border Service. These actions can lead to incidents at the state border with subsequent adverse legal consequences for their initiators,” the Committee has warned.

The KGB has noted, that if such a situation arises, , it is necessary to notify timely the border authorities in order to take measures aimed at helping citizens return their livestock.

The State Security Committee has also warned about administrative and criminal liability provided for by the legislation of the Republic of South Ossetia for committing offenses in the field of protecting the state border.
