Astemr Tshurbaty a native of South Ossetia, a serviceman of the 4th military base of the Russian Federation stationed in South Ossetia, was awarded the Zhukov medal for courage, dedication and courage shown during the special military operation to protect Donbass.

Tshurbaty went to Donbass in March, along with other guys from the countries friendly to the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, to fight for peace and justice, for the freedom and safety of civilians.

Many Ossetian guys were awarded state awards for their courage and heroism during the operation.

Tskhurbaty graduated from Tskhinval secondary school No. 6, after which he entered the St. Petersburg State Engineering and Economic University, which he later graduated from. For some time, he was working in his specialty at the BTK-4 garment factory, and then got a job at the 4th military base of the Russian Federation, stationed in South Ossetia, where he has been serving for 5 years.

As reported to IA “Res” by Tskhurbaty, having got to Ukraine, he, together with his comrades, carried out the tasks assigned to them to the last. When asked why he was awarded the Zhukov medal, Tskhurbaty modestly avoids answering. For such guys, a feat is not a loud word, they believe that they are simply fulfilling their duty to the Fatherland, fighting for peace without Nazism, providing assistance to those who need it and nothing more.

“We have never, not a single step backed down, rigorously moved forward and only forward, for peace and tranquility,” Tskhurbaty said.

He has noted that in Mariupol, on April 20, on the way to Azovstal, he, along with the guys, came under fire.

“I was wounded in the neck by shrapnel from a grenade launcher. Taimuraz Gazzaev was wounded with me, - said Tshurbaty - Comrade Levan Tsiskadze ran up to me and provided first aid, bandaged the wound. Igor Kokoev, Khazbi Kambolov and others were also with us.”

According to him, at that time, Tamerlan Magkoev, also a serviceman of the 4th military base of the Russian Federation, came out of hiding at his own risk and fired a Mukha anti-tank grenade launcher at the enemy.

“In the meantime, our platoon leader arrived in a combat vehicle and took away the wounded, me along with them,” he noted. “In this battle, Konstantin Pliev was also wounded, and Inal Gagloev was killed.”

The serviceman said that he, along with other wounded guys, had been brought to a dressing station in Mariupol, from there they were transported to the Novoazovsk hospital, after which they were evacuated by helicopter to Rostov-on-Don, where Tshurbaty was for three weeks. From there he was transferred to a hospital in North Ossetia and then discharged home - to Tskhinval.

The comrades-in-arms of Tskhurbaty characterize him as a brave, courageous and executive fighter.

“Astemr is a man who will never leave his comrades in a battle, you can safely go on reconnaissance with him,” said Tamerlan Magkoev. “Tskhurbaty was wounded, he began to have numbness on one side of his body, we already thought that he would not survive, but, fortunately, everything worked out.”

Russia's special operation in Ukraine continues. Residents of Ossetia hope that this operation will soon achieve its goals, and the citizens of Donbass will find peace and protection.
