On December 11-12, 2018,in Geneva took place the 46th Round of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, held in accordance with the August 12 and September 8, 2008 Medvedev-Sarkozy agreements. The delegations of the Republic of South Ossetia, the Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, the Russian Federation, the USA, as well as the EU, the UN and the OSCE representatives took part in the discussions.

Georgia’s hostile rhetoric on the situation around Abkhazia and South Ossetia has not changed after the presidential elections, told RIA Novosti Secretary of State and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin following a regular round of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, Dmitry Medoev, called the year 2018 saturated and significant in terms of the development of the country's foreign policy ties.

“In January took place the first visit of the President of South Ossetia to the center of Europe. It was a very serious breakthrough. In addition, this year took place our visit to Nauru on the 50th anniversary of the country, which is a member of many international organizations. Interesting trips to Italy also took place, which will be developed,”said the Foreign Minister at a press conference in Tskhinval.

South Ossetia is demonstrating in the international arena readiness for full-scale security work in the region, which is the main goal of the Geneva discussions, said Foreign Minister of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev.

The meeting of foreign ministers of Russia and South Ossetia, which will be held on November 12 in Moscow, will discuss key issues of Russian-South Ossetian relations, TASS reports, citing the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

According to Zakharova, the head of the Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia, Dmitry Medoev, will be in Moscow on a three-day working visit.

The head of the official representative office of the Republic of South Ossetia in Transnistria, Vitaly Yankovsky, took part in commemorative events dedicated to the tragic events of November 1990 in the Transdniestrian city of Dubossary, which marked the beginning of the conflict between Chisinau and Tiraspol.

The reports of Ossetian scholars, concerning historical ties and cultural parallels between Ossetia-Alania and Iran aroused particular interest of the participants of the international conference held in Tehran.

According to the press service of the North Ossetian State University, the work of the international conference organized at the Allama Tabatabai University was held in two main thematic areas - cultural ties and diplomatic relations between Iran and Russia.

The issues of socio-economic cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia have been discussed at the meeting in Tskhinval by President Anatoly Bibilov and Deputy Minister for North Caucasus Affairs Igor Koshin, who has arrived in South Ossetia on a working visit.

According to the press service of the head of state, Prime Minister Erik Pukhaev, head of the Presidential Executive Office Igor Kozaev, heads of the Republican ministries have also taken part in the meeting.

Elections in neighboring Georgia are internal affair of the Georgian state; this has nothing to do with South Ossetia, said Dmitry Medoev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, answering journalists' questions about how he assesses the results of the first round of presidential elections in the neighboring republic.

The South Ossetian Parliament ratified the Treaty of friendship and cooperation with Syria at today's session.

According to the head of the parliamentary committee on foreign policy and inter-parliamentary relations, Igor Kochiev, the document is presented in two copies - Ossetian and Arabic.
