Relations between South Ossetia and Abkhazia have always been based on mutual respect and trust, South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev said at the inauguration ceremony of President of Abkhazia.

Gagloev noted the 20th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the republics, calling it a symbol of strong friendship of the Ossetian and Abkhaz peoples.

“This document has become a reflection of the strong friendship of the Ossetian and Abkhaz peoples and has opened up new horizons for cooperation,” the President said. “Over the past years, the regulatory framework for bilateral relations has consistently developed, including at the interdepartmental level. Our task is not only to preserve, but also to increase what has been achieved.”

Drawing attention to new challenges that require joint efforts, Gagloev outlined key areas of cooperation.

"It is important to develop cooperation in the economy, security, culture, science and education, tourism and youth policy," Gagloev believes.

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening the interaction of foreign policy agencies and working to expand the international recognition of the republics.

In conclusion, Gagloev expressed confidence in the success of Abkhazia under the leadership of Badra Gunba and wished him good health, energy and determination.

"I am confident that under your leadership, dear Badra Zurabovich, Republic of Abkhazia will achieve new successes, and the fraternal relations between our countries will be only growing stronger," President of South Ossetia said, wishing the entire Abkhaz people peace, well-being and prosperity.
