The National Media Day is being celebrated in South Ossetia

The South Ossetian mass media celebrate their professional holiday on July 23, which is associated with the publication of the first Ossetian newspaper “Iron Gazet” in 1906.

The publication, issued more than a century ago - on July 23 in Vladikavkaz, became the starting point for the development of national media.

The first circulation of “Iron Gazet” was 500 copies; readers could get acquainted with new publications on its pages twice a week.

National Media Day is celebrated in South Ossetia since July 23, 1996.

South Ossetia and Nicaragua: 13 years of cooperation and friendship

On July 20, 2010, important agreements were signed in the city of Managua, marking the beginning of cooperation between South Ossetia and Nicaragua.

The signing of a number of documents became the basis for further strengthening of political, economic and cultural ties between the two states.

Thanks to the agreements, citizens of both countries were able to travel freely without the need for visas, as well as develop trade and economic relations.

In South Ossetia, on Thursday - November 23, the Day of Courage and National Unity is being celebrated.

On this day in 1989, at the entrance to Tskhinval, at the foot of the Pris Upland, a group of young Tskhinval residents, showing heroism, stood holding hands in front of a crowd of thousands of Georgian informals who were trying to get into Tskhinval to hold a “peaceful rally.”

The border department of the FSB of Russia in the Republic of South Ossetia is celebrating its professional holiday. This year marks the 105th anniversary of the formation of the border troops. On May 28, 1918, a decree of the Council of People's Commissars on the establishment of the border guard was signed.

13 years ago Tskhinval became a hero city

Tskhinval has been bearing the title of Hero City for the courage, steadfastness and heroism shown by the people and the defenders of the city in the struggle for the freedom and independence of the Fatherland. The decree on conferring the honorary title of "Hero City" on the capital of the Republic with the awarding of the Order of "Uatsamonga" was signed in 2009 - on the 20th anniversary of the liberation struggle of the people for their independence.

Thank you for peace: Russian border guards came to the aid of South Ossetia 13 years ago

Russian border guards started joint border protection on April 30, 2009, when an agreement was signed between Russia and South Ossetia on joint efforts to protect the state border. Since then, Russian border guards have been guarding the borders of South Ossetia together with their South Ossetian counterparts, together protecting peace and security in the Republic.

Saturday marks 13 years since the signing of the Agreement and 13 years since the establishment of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia in South Ossetia.

February 1 – the Day of Ossetian Science: about the history of the holiday

February 1 is the Day of Science in South Ossetia. The holiday was established on February 4, 2014. Prior to this, Science Day was celebrated on February 8, as in Russia. The date of February 1 was chosen in connection with a significant event: on February 1, 1922, the "Scientific and Literary Society" was created - the first scientific institution in South Ossetia.
