Maximum integration and a common security contour: Dzhioev on the Treaty of Alliance between South Ossetia and Russia

The parameters and provisions of the Agreement on Alliance and Integration between South Ossetia and Russia provide for maximum integration, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, Akhsar Dzhioev has noted at the briefing in Tskhinval.

“Within the framework of this Agreement, we have a common security contour with Russia, that is, an attack on South Ossetia will be considered an attack on Russia,” he said.

We will promote the issue as much as possible: the head of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry on the agreement on dual citizenship with Russia

South Ossetia will hold consultations with the Russian partto maximize the advancement of the issue of dual citizenship, said South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev.

“The agreement on resolving issues of dual citizenship with Russia was signed in 2020, until the document came into force. In order for it to fully work, a mechanism is needed where all the details for its implementation will be spelled out,” Dzhioev said.

According to him, the agreement implies that the mechanism will be reflected in the decree of the Russian President.

We don’t see such a threat yet: Dzhioev on the likelihood of Georgia opening a second front

South Ossetia does not yet see the threat of Georgia opening a second front against Russia, Foreign Minister of the Republic Akhsar Dzhioev said at the briefing in Tskhinval.

“I don’t think that Georgia has a great desire to attack South Ossetia and Russia, a nuclear power. There are no such short-sighted politicians there yet. The last of these is located in places that are not so remote (editor’s note from Saakashvili),” Dzhioev said.

He has emphasized that Russia is a strategic partner of South Ossetia, a guarantor of peace and security for the people of the Republic.

We maintain relations with the permanent Committee of the Union State of Russia and Belarus - Akhsar Dzhioev

The Union State of Russia and Belarus is a very important body with which South Ossetia would like to cooperate, but it is too early to talk about joining it, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, Akhsar Dzhioev, noted at the briefing at the Information and Press Committee of the Republic.

“We have contacts with the bodies of the Union State. We maintain relations with its standing committee. Last year we had the opportunity to participate in the Union State event in Brest, and we are planning this year too,” Dzhioev said.
