South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov has received the representatives of the Russian public corporation "Gazprom" - Director of the Department of Capital Construction and Contract Works of the public corporation "MRK Engineering" Alexander Bart, Head of Strategic Planning Department "Gazprom Neft" Sergey Vakulenko and an engineer of the pipeline project "Dzuarikau-Tskhinval" Nikolay Stupin.
During the meeting the President has noted that the pipeline "Dzuarikau-Tskhinval" is of great importance to South Ossetia.
"Much has been said about the problems in the construction of the pipeline, but we see that everything is done efficiently and for several years the population of South Ossetia, in particular, the town of Tskhinval, is fully supplied with gas," - said the president.
He expressed the hope that "Gazprom" would continue providing assistance to South Ossetia in the gasification of the districts of the Republic.
"We hope to discuss this issue with the management of ''Gazprom''. This question was discussed at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The issue of gas supply will also be discussed at the Intergovernmental Commission meeting, which is scheduled for next week,"- said Tibilov.
During the meeting, the President has also reminded that today South Ossetia is commemorating a remarkable date - the beginning of the people's struggle for independence.
"Exactly 23 years ago, the Georgian authorities approached to Tskhinval under the pretext of conducting a "peaceful rally." But the essence of this "meeting" was to induce our people to follow the path, chosen by Georgia. We said "no, we are with Russia," and to this day we have been following this policy, "- underlined Leonid Tibilov.
The pipeline "Dzuarikau-Tskhinval" was commissioned in August 2009. This is the most high-mountain gas pipeline, which has no analogues in the world.
The length of the gas pipeline, which connects North and South Ossetia, is more than 160 km. The gas pipeline, which is still under construction, is laid to Tskhinval across the Central Caucasus mountain pass, across 16 settlements. In some places, the pipeline will pass at an altitude of 3000 meters above sea level. Along its length will be equipped 11 gas-distributing stations, laid 15 tunnels with a total length of 1848 m, and built 29 the water obstacles crossings. The line passes through five mountain ranges and on the Kudarsky pass it has reached the point over 3148 meters.
