In the Georgian village of Ergneti adjacent to the borderline with South Ossetia was completed the work of the 35th meeting of Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM). Following the meeting, the head of the South Ossetian delegation, Deputy Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Khokh Gagloyty has informed that seven questions were discussed at the meeting.
The sides discussed the situation in the areas adjacent to the state border of South Ossetia. The participants welcomed the reduction in the number of detentions of citizens along the border.
According to Gagloyty, within twenty-four hours South Ossetian authorities will return to Georgia its citizen Rostom Sosiashvili.
"Sosiashvili was arrested for illegal crossing of the state border. He was sentenced to two years on probation. The Georgian side expressed concern about the state of his health. Within twenty-four hours he will be returned to the Georgian side, "- said Gagloyty.
In turn, the Georgian side has voiced that the previously detained for violation of the state border of South Ossetia a citizen of Georgia Temur Gigauri was mistreated while being under investigation. In turn, the South Ossetian side said it strongly condemned any inhumane treatment.
"The Georgian side expressed concern about the information of inhumane treatment submitted by Gigauri himself. However, the South Ossetian side has expressed doubts about the validity of this information, as every prisoner in South Ossetia is regularly visited by the International Committee of the Red Cross. If the ICRC expert had been concerned, he would have brought it to the attention of the relevant structures. However, the ICRC, which monitors the human rights of prisoners, has not made such comments. Accordingly, we regard this information as unconfirmed "- emphasized Gagloyty.
The South Ossetian side appreciated the recent release of a citizen of South Ossetia Marik Dudaev, and expressed hope for a similar approach to other citizens of the Republic, kept in the prisons of Georgia.
In addition, the Georgian delegation alleged a violation of Georgian airspace by an unmanned aerial vehicle. In response, representatives of South Ossetia have offered to provide more specific information about the circumstances of the incident and the type of the pilotless plane.
"The Georgian side did not give such information. As it turned out, this information was presented by the Georgian police from the Georgian territory adjacent to the borderline with South Ossetia. Following the appropriate discussion with experts, it became clear that this information was not confirmed by other paramilitary agencies, including the Ministry of Defence of Georgia, "- said Gagloyty.
Regarding the humanitarian part of the agenda, Deputy Presidential Envoy has said that South Ossetia solves such issues without delay. Gagloyty, in particular, was referring to the resumption of supply of irrigation water to the Georgian village of Dhwani which borders on South Ossetia.
"This matter was put before the South Ossetian side on June 16, and by today's meeting, we have notified the Georgian side that the irrigation system was restored," - said Gagloyty.
The next meeting within the framework of IPRM will be held July 31, 2013.
