The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov presented his credentials to President Anatoly Bibilov and assumed his de facto duties.
Anatoly Bibilov has welcomed the new ambassador, expressing confidence that the fruitful work, which has a solid foundation, will reach a higher quality level, and the authority of Marat Kulakhmetov, his knowledge of the problems of South Ossetia will contribute to strengthening the relations between the two brotherly states.
"The Russian Federation has always been with South Ossetia in the most difficult years," the president said. - Here you are well known and remembered, and you know a lot about South Ossetia. And I am very pleased that you will represent the interests of the Russian Federation in South Ossetia. "
Murat Kulakhmetov has noted that the interstate relations between South Ossetia and Russia are based on a solid juridical base and a large number of documents that move the countries forward.
"This is a serious basis for our allied relations. In my work, I will adhere to the policy of promoting the formation of South Ossetia as a modern democratic state, ensuring its security, and, of course, the socio-economic development of the Republic," the ambassador said.
The meeting was attended by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RSO Dmitry Medoev, Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office of South Ossetia Konstantin Pukhaev, representatives of the media.
On May 23, by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Marat Kulakhmetov was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to South Ossetia.
It should be noted that Major-General Marat Kulakhmetov commanded the mixed peacekeeping forces in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict in 2004-2008. Since 2011, he held the position of Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
