The issues of searching for persons to be listed missing as a result of the Georgian aggression were discussed at a regular meeting within the framework of the tripartite coordinating mechanism, in which South Ossetia, Russia and Georgia participate under the auspices of the ICRC.
As reported to IA "Res" by the Presidential Ombudsman of the RSO Inal Tasoev, "during the meeting there was a discussion of the actions undertaken in the search for and clarification of the fate of missing persons, as well as planning activities carried out within the tripartite coordination mechanism for 2018".
The meeting took place on the border of South Ossetia with Georgia, in the village of Ergneti.
The Republic of South Ossetia was represented at the meeting by the Presidential Ombudsman of the Republic of South Ossetia for Human Rights Inal Tasoev and the head of the Department for Foreign Policy Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Taimuraz Djidjoev.
The next meeting is scheduled for October-November 2018.
The tripartite coordination mechanism on the consideration of the issue of persons to be listed as missing as a result of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict in 1989-92 and military aggression of Georgia against the Republic of South Ossetia in August 2008 was established in February 2010 under the auspices of the ICRC. As part of the mechanism in 2016, it was clarified the fate of one defender of South Ossetia, who was listed as missing since August 2008.
