From April 12, border crossing will be carried out in a special order
The government of South Ossetia on Saturday adopted a decree "On ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological safety of South Ossetia", which defines additional measures to counteract the importation and spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 on the territory of the Republic, the presidential press service reports.
The government meeting was chaired by President Anatoly Bibilov.
According to the head of state, the epidemiological situation in the world remains difficult, and therefore it is necessary to take a number of steps that will minimize the risk of coronavirus infection entering the Republic. Particular attention was paid to tightening measures to cross the Russian-South Ossetian state border at the Ruck checkpoint.
“We know very well that the number of infected people is increasing every day, and it has increased in the Republic of North Ossetia. In this regard, we need to take certain steps that would allow us to minimize the possibility of penetration into the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia,” the head of state said.
The President regretted the frivolous attitude to the threat from the population and once again called for following the recommendations of the authorities and doctors.
“I appeal to the population of the whole Republic with a request not to be negligent towards myself and my relatives. We will take measures to prevent people from leaving their homes,” said Anatoly Bibilov and instructed Interior Minister Igor Naniev to work out the possibility of responding to crowds, and to conduct explanatory work on the seriousness of the threat with the help of the district police officers.
The government of South Ossetia made a decision to temporarily stop crossing the South Ossetian border through the Ruck checkpoint from 8 p.m. on April 5, 2020 to 11 p.m. on April 12, 2020.
Starting from April 12, border crossings will be carried out according to a special procedure that was assigned to be developed jointly with the state security Committee, the Ministry of foreign Affairs, the Ministry of health and the Committee for supervision of consumer protection.
The government has instructed the Ministry of economic development to determine the mechanism for providing goods to South Ossetia, as well as to set maximum retail allowances of no more than 20% for food and non-food essential goods and no more than 10% for medicines.
According to the decree, 6 million 500 thousand rubles were allocated from the government reserve fund for the purchase of medicines and medical devices.
The decision notes that the measures taken are due to special circumstances and are exclusively temporary.
President Anatoly Bibilov demanded that the heads of those ministries and departments concerned with the paragraphs of the resolution should be as responsive as possible towards its implementation.
"Each of us has a responsibility for the security of the Republic of South Ossetia. As for the special border crossing procedure after April 12, it should be understandable and clear for every citizen of South Ossetia, understandable for representatives of foreign states, military personnel of the 4th Russian base, and employees of the Border Administration," stressed the president.
The resolution "On ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological safety of South Ossetia" was adopted unanimously by cabinet members.
