For three days of early voting on amendments to the Constitution of Russia, more than 1,600 people voted at the polling station in the Russian Embassy in Tskhinval, said the head of the Consular Department of the Russian Embassy in South Ossetia Sergey Alekseev.
“On the first day, on June 25, 543 citizens voted on the basis of field work, on June 26 - 863, and today - 272 citizens of the Russian Federation living in the Republic,” the Consul said.
According to him, the turnout was stable: "there were no incidents in the polling station, activity on weekdays was certainly higher, today there were fewer people willing, taking into account the weekend."
“On voting day - July 1 - we expect a high turnout. This was predictable, because according to preliminary discussions among the population, citizens intend to come to the polling station during the week,” said Alekseev.
It should be noted that early voting on amendments to the Constitution of Russia will last until June 30, and will continue on voting day July 1. Two polling stations are also functioning on the territory of the Russian military base in Tskhinval.
The voting process is covered by accredited representatives of Russian and South Ossetian media.
