The unbreakable union of South Ossetia with Russia has been forged for centuries, and it will remain the same for centuries, said President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov, speaking on Wednesday at the solemn meeting dedicated to the Defender of the Fatherland Day.
“Combat brotherhood is a great, truly holy feeling for a warrior, when you are sure that your brother will not leave you, will come to the rescue and will be there at the right time, despite any circumstances and possible costs.
We remember the resilience of Russian peacekeepers, the exploits of Russian soldiers who, not sparing their lives, were fearlessly fighting for peace on the land of South Ossetia in August 2008," the President said.
According to him, a new example of fraternal support for Russia was the assistance to the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
"I see special symbolism in the fact that the decision to recognize their independence was made on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day.
South Ossetia, which itself went through the hardest trials, has always empathized with the fate of Donbass, and Ossetian volunteers took part in repelling aggression in the most difficult days for the two republics. We wish the residents of the Donbass republics a speedy establishment of lasting peace and revival in their beautiful land," the Head of state stressed.
The solemn meeting was attended by officials of the Republic, Russian Ambassador to the Republic Marat Kulakhmetov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Abkhazia to South Ossetia Alan Elbakiev, ex-president of the country Leonid Tibilov, representatives of various power structures of the state. The event ended with a festive concert performed by creative teams from the south and north of Ossetia.
