President Alan Gagloev took part in the events on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of St. George the Victorious in the village of Laba in Karachay-Cherkessia, the second homeland of the poet and founder of the Ossetian literature Kost Khetagurov. The mayor of Cherkessk Aleksey Baskaev, the mayor of Karachaevsk Marat Urusov, the head of the Karachaev district Spartak Kushcheterov also took part in the events.

Numerous pilgrims from all over the world come to the ancient St. George's Church on Mount Shoana (Suanayi Uastirdzhi) every year on May 6.

On the border of Karachay-Cherkessia, Alan Gagloev was met by the head of the administration of the head and government of the KChR, Murat Ozov.

The head of the South Ossetian state had a meeting with the Head of the KChR Rashid Temrezov.

Then Alan Gagloev joined the residents of the Kosta Khetagurov village. On the spot, the guests were traditionally expected with three pies.

The delegation visited St. George's Church, where the President spoke with Vladyka Theophylact.

On the territory of the temple, the events were organized by the Karachay-Cherkessia regional public organization for the protection of the rights and interests of the Ossetian people "FARN (HAPPINESS)" headed by Chairman Oleg Khetagurov and the villagers.

The President congratulated the assembled residents and guests on the holiday and wished them God's grace.

“For the first time I meet the Ossetian people here, on the territory of Karachay-Cherkessia. We feel the warm, fraternal attitude of the Karachay-Circassian people towards representatives of the Ossetian nationality and are grateful for this. Our ancestors have long offered up prayers to St. Uastirdzhi, may he patronize us. Let troubles and hardships bypass our people, and from now on life will be filled only with joy and happiness,” said Alan Gagloev.

The delegation also laid flowers at the monument to fellow villagers lost in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. and to the Obelisk "Children of Beslan".

After that, a solemn laying of flowers at the Eternal Flame at the monument to the defenders of the Caucasus passes took place. The guests also visited the Museum - a monument to the defenders of the Caucasus Pass.
