South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev presented a state award - the Order of Courage - to the father of a soldier killed in the special military operation.
By decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, South Ossetian soldier Georgy Koraev (Gigu) was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage for bravery and heroism shown in the performance of his military duty.
"Thank you for bringing up such a hero, a real Ossetian man. As we see, no matter how much time passes, the names of heroes are not forgotten. Of course, I would like to present the Order to Georgy personally, but, unfortunately, it is awarded posthumously. His name will not be forgotten. And I wish you good health and fortitude. We will always support you,” Gagloev said while presenting the award to the soldier’s father.
Koraev thanked the leadership of Russia and South Ossetia for their attention.
“You never leave us without attention. We know that you are always there for us and will support us. Thank you for not forgetting us,” the father of the deceased soldier said.
While carrying out combat missions in the special military operation zone, Koraev and his comrades were ambushed in March 2022. Then, three soldiers perished in one battle – Georgy Koraev, Vladimir Kozaev and Marat Dzhioev.
