Georgian special services continue provocations

Yesterday late at night a citizen of RSO Abaev Rodion was abducted by special subdivisions of MIA of Georgia from a buffer area between Georgia and the Republic of South Ossetia. He was conveyed to Gori and was subjected to tortures. After some special measures of RSO MIA Abaev Rodion has been released.

Kommentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia

to the statements of the President of Georgia M. Saakashvili regarding the peaceful initiatives suggested by the President of the Republic of South Ossetia E. Kokoity

On 28 January 2008 the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity sent in to the President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili a letter with the proposals of the meeting of conflict parties on high level in the existing negotiation framework with the participation of OSCE Chairman in Office. For the effective result of the meeting was suggested to sign the commitments on non application of force in Georgian-Ossetian conflict settlement. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia also directed an appropriate letter to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia where it was proposed to start consultations on the practical realization of the meeting.

The congress of today – the sixth one, according to modern numbering, and under an absolute count – the seventeenth congress of the Ossetian people, has gathered for the first time in Tskhinval. By a strange concurrence of circumstances – it gathered the day before the seventeenth anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia. Let this teenager number deceive nobody. All the same we’re having an anniversary this year – ninety years have passed since the first national congress had been held. Ninety years long Ossetia’s civil institutions have been struggling with the lack of state unity.

Provocations of Georgian side in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone are continuing

On 13 March 2008 beginning from 20:45 for about 15-20 minutes from the direction of gardens between the observation post of Russian peacekeepers «Eredvi» and Georgian peacekeepers observation post was delivered fire in direction of Georgian peacekeepers OP, as assistant of JPKF commander on links with media Yuri Vereschak reported to «Res» correspondent.

Yesterday night at 23:10 in Georgian administered village of Eredvi a shoot out took place between the military servicemen of Georgian power structures, which number increased considerably after Russia’s removal of sanctions towards Abkhazia.

Announcement for press concerning the results of summit of the Presidents of Republic of Abkhazia, Transdnistria and the Republic of South Ossetia

On 12 of March in Moscow a working meeting of the Presidents of republic of Abkhazia, Transdnistrian Moldovan Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia was held. In the course of meeting was discussed a wide range of questions pertaining to the alteration of international situation, first of all within the context of recognition by a number of states of former Serbian autonomy – Kosovo and Metokhia. The Presidents of Abkhazia, Transdnistria and South Ossetia agreed that recognition of Kosovo begins new stage in international relations and in development of modern international law.
