Russia remains committed to the format of international discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia regardless of their location, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin said.
He has emphasized that at these meetings, Sukhum, Tskhinval and Tbilisi conduct a direct dialogue, discussing possible ways to restore relations taking into account the realities developed since 2008.
“This is the important platform for a dialogue on security in this region in a broader context: reaching a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force by Georgia against Abkhazia and South Ossetia,” Galuzin emphasized in the interview with the Izvestia.
The Geneva discussions have been held since October 15, 2008. They are attended by representatives of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Georgia, Russia and the United States, with the EU, UN and OSCE co-chairing.
Earlier, Moscow has raised the issue of moving the discussions to another country due to the fact that Switzerland has ceased to take a neutral position, including in relation to Russia.
