The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered the first candidate for president

The Сentral Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered ex-chairman of KGB Leonid Tibilov as the candidate for president of the Republic. As IA "RES" was informed at the Central Electoral Committee of the RSO, «after receiving a certificate of registration, the candidate will acquire a right to start pre-election activities, including propaganda, meetings with the population and so on».

An agreement on agricultural work safety has been reached at the meeting in Ergneti

The 20th meeting of the participants of Mechanisms on prevention and reaction to incidents (MPRI) has been held today in the Georgian village of Ergneti, bordering with South Ossetia.
South Ossetian side was represented by Deputy Presidential Envoy on post-conflict settlement in South Ossetia Merab Chigoev. The talks were also attended by representatives of Russia, Georgia, the EU and the OSCE. The meeting was held behind closed doors.

Four more presidential aspirants have passed an examination in the state languages level of proficiency

Four presidential aspirants of South Ossetia have passed today the exam in revealing the state languages level of proficiency. In total, eight people have taken the examination. As reported to IA "Res" by the Central Election Committee, the following applicants have passed a test: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to Russia, Dmitry Medoev, the former presidential representative in the RSO Parliament Tarzan Kokoity, the employee of the State Security Service Sergei Pliev and chief bailiff of the Ministry of Justice Sergei Bitiev. Ex-Chairman of the Committee of Transportation Maurice Sanakoev, entrepreneur Oleg Kozaev, Chairman of the Judo Federation Inal Dzukaev and former head of Dzausky district Pavel Kumaritov have not coped with the proposed linguistic committee task.

David Sanakoev and Sergei Zasseev passed the exam in revealing the state languages level of proficiency

Two from among the eight presidential aspirants of South Ossetia passed the exam in revealing the state languages (Ossetian and Russian) level of proficiency.
Eight presidential aspirants of the Republic have taken an exam: Deputy Minister of Defense Igor Alborov, Chairman of the Union of Afghan Veterans in South Ossetia, Murat Guchmazov, MP of the IV convocation Sergei Zasseev, MP of the II and IV convocations Kelekhsaev Vladimir, a former chief of Dzausky District Administration of South Ossetia Ruslan Bagaev, entrepreneurs Anatoly Dzhioev and Rustem Dzhioev, CEO of insurance company "Yugosetsotsstrakh" Felix Bitiev and Human Rights Ombudsman David Sanakoev.

Central Election Committee of South Ossetia completed accepting subscription lists from the action groups nominating presidential candidates

The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has completed this evening accepting subscription lists from the action groups, nominating candidates for the presidency of the Republic.
"In all, the Central Election Committee has accepted subscription lists from 19 action groups nominating the presidential candidates. The CEC will be checking the authenticity of signatures of voters; the presidential aspirants should pass an exam in knowing the official languages (Ossetian and Russian). In addition, they are obliged to submit declarations on income and taxes", - CEC secretary Irina Gassieva told IA "Res".

South Ossetian fighter will meet in the ring with the champion of US among the professionals

Today, a well-known professional boxer from South Ossetia Aslanbek Kozaev is going to hold his next rating fight in the U.S. city of Hammond (Indiana). As reported to IA "Res" by the coach of the athlete Vitaly Slanov, "Kozaev will perform in the weight category to 66 kg. He will meet with the U.S. champion according to the professional version of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Prince Burer. The rival of our athlete is 24 years old.

The CEC of South Ossetia refused the registration of Yuri Dzitstsoity

Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Yuri Dzitstsoity has been refused the registration as a candidate for President of the Republic. This has been reported to IA "Res" by the CEC secretary Irina Gassieva. She noted that this decision was made on the basis of detection of numerous violations in the subscription lists, submitted to the CEC by the action group nominating Yuri Dzitstsoity as the candidate for president of South Ossetia. "Subscription lists were filled in incorrectly, and did not meet the requirements of the election law," - said Gassieva.

Association of Women of South Ossetia for Democracy and Human Rights, together with all the citizens of RSO followed with great concern events related to the announcement of the inauguration date by the ex-candidate to the President Dzhioeva Alla, and incident which happened in Tskhinval on February 9, when Alla Alekseevna Dzhioeva was transported to Rebublican Hospital in grave condition.

South Ossetian authorities have met with the Co-chairs of the Geneva talks

Delegation of co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia has arrived today in South Ossetia with a working visit. The delegation includes Philippe Lefort (EU), Antti Turunen (UN) and Padrig Murphy (OSCE). In Tskhinval, the co-chairs were received by Presidential Envoy on post-conflict settlement Boris Chochiev. The meeting was also attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Murat Dzhioev and Human Rights Ombudsman David Sanakoev.
