On 26 July 2008 from 12:35 to 15:20 JPKF tripartite military observers team and OSCE Mission in concert with water pipeline specialists from Georgian and Ossetian sides monitored Edis – Tskhinval waterpipe. The purpose of the monitoring was to confirm the information of new illegal holes at this section.
While monitoring the pipeline the joint monitoring team has found 16 illegal holes and breaches between Zemo Achabeti and Sveri. This caused a complete water shortage in Tskhinval.
The breaches are used by population of Georgian villages for the irrigation of their plots of land.
In accordance with agreements achieved by sides the repairing brigades will initiate the elimination of the holes found.
