The Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Ossetia began construction of a new medical center in the village of Zakkor in Leningor District of the RSO.

As the news agency "Res" has been informed by the head of the press- service of the Mission Marina Tedety, "this remote village has never had a medical center and the residents have had to seek medical care in the district center, which is located at a considerable distance from the village. The district administration asked the ICRC to help them in solving this problem".
According to her, the construction of the health center has begun this week.
"It is planned to build a small standard two-room building, provide it with water supply and sewer systems, and equip it with the necessary medicalinstrumentation, - added the ICRC spokesperson. - This project is a part of the ICRC measures in South Ossetia for facilitating the access of the remote villages` residents to health services. Such medical centers have earlier been constructed in the South Ossetian villages of Zar and Velit."
Tedety has noted that the facility is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of November.
