A book titled "The Code of the Tragedy: 08.08.08", which was written on the basis of the materials of the criminal case being investigated by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, of the crimes committed by Georgia against the Russian peacekeepers and civilians in South Ossetia and Abkhazia in August 2008, has been published in Russia.
As reported by the official representative of the RF Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin to journalists, the materials of the book illustrate the picture of the events of August 2008, which was thoroughly restored by the investigating committee as a result of careful examination of hundreds of crime scenes, interrogation of thousands of the witnesses and the analysis of about 600 legal expertise and other investigative actions.
The book was published in Russian, English and French.
According to Markov, all materials are the evidence of crimes committed by Georgia in an attack on the positions of the Russian peacekeepers stationed in South Ossetia under special international protection.
"The photographic publications give a clear idea of what weapons the Georgian troops fired at the Russian peacekeepers and the local population, and the chances to rescue the victims," - he said.
The book also shows the position of some foreign media, allowing to form an idea of how was conducted not only the military, but also the information campaign.
It should be noted that more than one and a half thousand people have become the victims of the Georgian aggression in South Ossetian; the Investigative Committee of the Russian Prosecutor's Office has documented 162 deaths in the republic.
During the conflict were also killed 67 Russian soldiers, including the peacekeepers.
