"On this day the people of South Ossetia gained the freedom for which they had been fighting for many years", - said the president.
He has also stressed that South Ossetia is going to adhere to a chosen course of rapprochement with Russia and will never enter into Georgia in the future.
Tibilov has also excluded the establishment of any relations between Georgia and South Ossetia, until the Georgian authorities recognize the genocide of the Ossetian people.
"Over the past 20 years Georgia has three times unleashed war against South Ossetia. The gene pool of the Ossetian people suffered greatly. Georgia must admit that it committed genocide, otherwise there cannot be any relationship between Georgia and South Ossetia "- emphasized Tibilov.
The President has noted that he expects further progress in the recognition of the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the international community.
"There are strong reasons to say that this work is carried out efficiently, and soon there will be some progress in this direction. We hope that the restoration of South Ossetia and the work to strengthen its image will serve as the basis for many states to recognize the Republic "- said Tibilov.
The President of South Ossetia, who is in Russia on a working trip, visited the headquarters of the international news agency RIA Novosti and met with the head of the Russian Presidential Administration Sergei Ivanov.
