President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov instructed the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic to work out the issue of providing assistance to the city of Kerch, press Secretary of the head of state Dina Gassieva told the IA “Res” on Friday.
President of South Ossetia expressed concern over the flooding in Kerch.
“Kerch is in distress. And despite the fact that the water is already draining there, the responsible services still have a lot of work to do to restore the infrastructure. A friend in need is a friend indeed. We must render all possible assistance to Kerch,” the President said, having reminded that Kerch and the capital of the Republic of South Ossetia Tskhinval are twinned cities.
Anatoly Bibilov instructed the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic to contact colleagues from the Republic of Crimea and work out the issue of providing assistance.
A powerful cyclone brought rainstorms to Crimea, which on Thursday led to flooding of more than 300 households in the east of the peninsula; overnight in Kerch and nearby areas, almost two monthly precipitation rates fell - 82 millimeters. On Friday, the cyclone spread to Yalta, causing the river to overflow its banks, flooding streets and houses. As a result of the emergency, one person died.
