Representatives of South Ossetia have taken part in the VI Global Forum of Young Diplomats "Diplomacy of the New Multipolar World" in Kazan, which was taking place from 17 to 21 August.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the South Ossetian delegation was represented by employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - the head of the department for work with foreign institutions Alexei Sanakoev, the consultant of the department of foreign relations Juliet Babutsidze and the first secretary of the South Ossetian Embassy in the Russian Federation Soslan Margiev.
“The Dorum was organized by the Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia with the assistance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan, the public organization Academy of Youth Diplomacy, the A. M. Gorchakov Foundation for Support of Public Diplomacy. The event was attended by 130 delegates from 40 countries of the world,” the statement of the press service reads.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov addressed the organizers, participants and guests of the VI Global Forum of Young Diplomats with a welcoming speech, noting that "horizontal diplomacy" provides an excellent opportunity for young specialists in foreign policy services, representatives of government bodies, and the expert community to conduct an informal exchange of views on key issues of international life."
The program of the Forum has included a series of meetings dedicated to the “horizontal diplomacy” of the new multi-polar world, multilateral consultations of the youth structures of the EAEU countries, during which information security in modern international relations and the role of “soft power” were discussed, as well as the plans were outlined for holding joint projects.
Within the framework of the Forum, an official ceremony for the admission of new members to the International Association of Young Diplomats (IAYD) took place. The association was joined by representatives of diplomatic departments from more than 20 countries, including from South Ossetia.
On the last day of the Forum, a final document was signed, which noted the importance of joint efforts in the formation of a polycentric world based on international law, the development of the concept of "horizontal diplomacy" at the national, regional and multilateral levels as an effective tool for cooperation between young diplomats. The delegates also opposed the rehabilitation of fascism and Nazism.
