Inal Tasoev is one of the heroes of our time. He was fight for the independence of his homeland and paid the highest price for the freedom of the Republic of South Ossetia - his life...
On January 18, he would have turned 64 years old, but even then, in the 90s, at the age of thirty, he showed courage and heroism. Communist, as his friends and family called him, died on Christmas Day 1991. These tragic days have entered the modern history of South Ossetia as the "bloody Christmas".
On January 6, 1991, Georgia's open military aggression against the people of South Ossetia began. That same night, the internal troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs, which were supposed to maintain stability, removed their posts and went to the barracks without notifying the republic's leadership. At 4 a.m., a three-thousand-strong Georgian police unit entered the city, including Georgian militants dressed in police uniforms, criminals and drug addicts who had been amnestied the day before, with a large amount of special equipment and dogs.
The Georgian "police" occupied the central part of the city, blocked all roads and intersections. Torture, arrests, violence, murders, and arson began. And in the afternoon of January 6, the Georgian "policemen" opened fire on the unarmed people. One man was killed, several were wounded. Their first victim was a 32-year-old Tskhinval resident Grisha Kochiev, who covered the children with his body during the shelling. Four people were wounded that same night. Five people died at the hands of the Georgian "policemen", including the hero of our story, Inal Tasoev (Communist). This is what he was nicknamed for his honesty, decency and objectivity.
To perpetuate the memory
In January 2016, a memorial plaque was installed on the wall of the house where Inal Tasoev lived, which will serve as a reminder of the feat and the price that the Ossetian people had to pay in the fight for their freedom and independence. The younger generation will always remember them and honor their bright memory, but it is important that the younger generation also knows about them, is proud of their feat and respects the memory of our heroes.
The hero's mother was very much looking forward to this event and expressed words of gratitude to everyone who remembered her son. "I am pleased that my son's services to the Motherland were duly appreciated, and his fight for independence was not in vain," she addressed the country's leadership.
And even earlier, by decision of the commission for renaming streets and squares of the city of Tskhinval under the city administration, the street where he lived was also named.
To honor the feat of everyone
Inal Tasoev was the first among those heroes who gave their lives for the prosperity of South Ossetia, who were buried in the courtyard of school No. 5. Since then, the school's students honor the memory of the heroes, come to the graves and remember their feat. Moreover, the school's pioneer squad is named after Inal Tasoev.
Every day we walk along streets that are named after someone. But rarely does anyone think about who those people are, after whom they are named. But behind each name is the story of a person who made a great contribution to the development of his country, and not only...
