The head of the Georgian Foreign Ministry forgot about the true reality developed in the region after August 2008, about the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, about the results of the work of the international commission of Heidi Tagliavini, which recognized Georgia as the aggressor, about the importance of the International Discussions on Security in Transcaucasia, the key goal of which is to ensure lasting security in the region and exclude the possibility of renewed hostilities.
This statement was made by Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia, commenting on the statements of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maka Bochorishvili in the interview with the Spanish agency EFE, in which she voiced a kind of "reference points" of the old-new Georgian foreign policy, in particular, having stated that "her country does not want a new war with Russia, but does not refuse the membership in NATO, as well as in the European Union (EU)".
At the same time, the head of the Georgian diplomacy did not miss the opportunity to apply the hackneyed term "separatist region" to South Ossetia, as well as the thesis about the so-called occupation of the Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by Russia - "20% of the national territory.
"Leaving aside the free interpretation of reality, we are forced to draw Maka Bochorishvili's attention to the dissonance of her statements with the conciliatory tone of the speeches previously heard from a number of the Georgian politicians. It is obvious that they have remained the pre-election rhetoric. In fact, we see other accents regarding joining NATO as Georgia's strategic goal, the desire to establish ties with the EU, and assessing Russia as the "challenge number one for Georgia," the Foreign Ministry has noted.
It was added that South Ossetia had chosen a different path for its historical development and once again confirmed the invariability of the course towards strengthening relations with the Russian Federation, which is the only guarantor of peace and security, as well as developing mutually beneficial cooperation with friendly countries.
