The Simd Song and Dance Group, together with Minister of Culture of South Ossetia Rada Dzagoeva, honored the memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War by laying wreaths and flowers at the Motherland monument and the memorial plaque to the natives of Ossetia at the Piskarevsky Memorial Cemetery in St. Petersburg.

This was reported by the press service of "Simd".

Minister of Culture of the Republic of South Ossetia in the interview with journalists from Russian media has noted that both the fight against fascism during the Great Patriotic War and the 80th anniversary of the Victory are significant pages of history for the entire Ossetian people.

"Today's event at the Piskarevsky Memorial Cemetery is our bow to the heroic defenders of Leningrad, it is a tribute of respect and memory to all Soviet people perished in the fight against fascism," Rada Dzagoeva said.

During the blockade and defense of Leningrad, over 1.5 million people died, including about 600 Ossetians who gave their lives for the defense of the city.
